About
About Beithe
Beithe is a small batch, eco-friendly clothing line specializing in modern silhouettes and everyday basics. Available in sizes XS to infinity.
All items are made with care and attention to detail in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Using high quality fabrics, these garments are built to wear season after season for years to come. Purposefully made in loose cuts to allow for weight fluctuations letting you to wear the clothes you love while your body changes from everyday life.
My aim is to make it accessible for people to easily integrate eco-friendly clothing into their wardrobe in a modern way, and at an affordable price point. To keep my prices accessible I do most of the work in the shop myself, from sourcing, designing, pattern making, sewing, photographing and packing. I employ local sewists to help in production during peak times.
If you're curious about my sustainability efforts see my "Sustainability" page for all the details.
Beithe is Gaelic for birch, which symbolizes a new beginning. I'm Scottish and from northern Manitoba so I thought the name was fitting. I started this brand as a creative outlet after the birth of my last child.
All of the style names were potential names for my daughter (we named her Thora). The exception is Charlie, which is my son's name.
About Me
I'm Kristy, the designer and maker behind Beithe. I like my coffee black and my gin on the rocks. I am a mom to two kiddos and live in the cutest red brick bungalow in Winnipeg's vibrant West End neighbourhood.
I love print, pattern and colour but in an ever-growing drive towards living an eco-friendly lifestyle I developed a desire to have clothes that will stand the test of time. I was craving updated basics with a twist, in neutral colours, and in natural fabrics. Unable to easily find what I wanted that fit my budget (and my almost-plus sized body) I started Beithe.
I have a diploma in Fashion Design and a bachelor degree in Fine Arts. My hand painted items bridge my 2 loves - fashion and art. In my 20 years of working professionally in the garment industry I've worked as a production line sewer, designer, buyer, fit technician and sewing/pattern making instructor. You can be sure the products you purchase here are professionally made to the highest standards.
Thank you for your interest and for supporting small business owners! You are making my dreams come true!
